Senior Sensory Connection

Foundations: Level 1

Learn simple, meaningful ways to create more comfort, connection, engagement and joy for older adults experiencing memory changes.

Senior Sensory Connection is a 2-hour experiential training designed to help caregivers, activity professionals, movement teachers and wellness professionals use sensory experiences to create more meaningful interactions with older adults experiencing dementia and other memory changes.

Rather than relying only on conversation or traditional activities, you'll learn how to create sensory experiences to open doorways to connection.

In this training, you'll learn how to:

• Use the senses to create meaningful experiences in a class, senior living community or home environment

• Create moments of comfort and calm when words aren't enough

• Invite curiosity, playfulness, movement and joy

• Adapt sensory experiences for different abilities and levels of participation

• Recognize and respond to individual cues, preferences and reactions

• Create engaging experiences without complicated supplies or extensive preparation

• Meet each person where they are and work with what is available in the moment

• You'll experience some of the practices yourself and leave with practical ideas you can begin using immediately.

Who is this for?

This training is ideal for activity and life enrichment professionals, yoga and fitness professionals, caregivers, CNA's, senior living and memory care staff, wellness professionals, family caregivers and anyone looking for more meaningful ways to connect with older adults experiencing memory changes.

No previous experience is required.

What you'll receive:

✓ 2-hour live, experiential training

✓ Senior Sensory Connection Foundations Level 1 training materials

✓ Ready-to-use sensory activity ideas

✓ Practical tools you can begin using immediately

✓ Certificate of Completion: Senior Sensory Connection Foundations, Level 1

Why I created Senior Sensory Connection

I've worked with older adults for years through yoga, movement, sound and other wellness practices, but dementia became personal for me through my father's journey.

For the past 12 years, I've had the experience of supporting someone I love as he has lived with dementia. That experience, combined with my work in senior centers, senior living communities and memory care, has deeply shaped the way I approach this work.

In my memory care classes, I began experimenting with more sensory-based experiences.

And something shifted.

There was more engagement. More laughter. More curiosity and connection. Even people who didn't always participate began finding their own ways to join in.

Senior Sensory Connection grew from those experiences.

I created this training to share what I've learned so that more older adults can experience moments of connection, comfort, playfulness and joy with the people who care for and support them.

Small shifts. Big impact.

This isn't about simply keeping someone busy.

Through presence, curiosity, playfulness and the senses, we can create more opportunities for comfort, engagement, laughter and joy.

Come learn how.

Scholarship Opportunity

One free scholarship is available for each Senior Sensory Connection training.

I want this work to reach as many seniors as possible, and finances shouldn’t always be the thing that stands in the way. 💛
