- ➤ Cactus Yards, the town-owned baseball venue, reopens Saturday after major repairs and is now managed by Gilbert Parks and Recreation (its previous operator, Big League Dreams, was removed for maintenance issues). The facility will host opening-day ceremonies with local leagues and tournaments planned throughout the week. East Valley Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Higley Unified School District is expanding its community education programs to include before- and after-school care, youth sports and themed intersessions. The spring break intersession (Under the Sea) will run March 9–20 at Power Ranch Elementary School. Gilbert Independent

- ➤ Gilbert Fire & Rescue opened its 2026 firefighter recruit program applications, offering paid training, certifications, and career advancement; applications ran from Feb. 9 until March 2 at 5 p.m. and training is set to begin late summer. Gilbert Independent
