- ➤ Gilbert public-safety personnel from Fire and Rescue, Police Department, and park rangers will host a free community fishing event this Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at Gilbert Regional Park’s lake. The event partners with Arizona Game and Fish to offer fishing poles for check out, bait, light snacks, and guidance — all anglers age 10 and older must show a valid license — while supplies last. - ➤ Independent Newsmedia is working with the Arizona Rattlers to donate part of the ticket sales from their June 14 game against the Tucson Sugar Skulls to local journalism. Queen Creek Road, where event director Tom Watson (of the United Potato Federation) plans to offer potato-themed food and fun activities such as a potato kitchen, sack races, a beer garden, and the Big Idaho Potato Truck.
