Good morning, Gilbert.

Steven Miller, a former Gilbert High football standout and current ASU assistant strength coach, died Wednesday at age 29 after a medical incident related to epilepsy, following coaching roles at Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida before returning to ASU in 2023.

Gilbert Public Schools' governing board questioned the future growth of Mesquite High's ASU Experience program during Tuesday's work-study session.

The program lets nine students split their day between high school courses and college classes at ASU's Polytechnic campus.

Gilbert Public Schools will offer an authorized International Baccalaureate pathway for students from kindergarten through 12th grade starting in the 2026-27 school year.

The program links Patterson Elementary’s IB Primary Years Programme with Gilbert High School’s diploma track — with final authorization at Accelerated Middle School coming later in 2026.
