- ➤ Higley Unified School District approved its final FY2026 budget revision Tuesday night to adjust for lower enrollment, reduced state funding and a failed override renewal. It slightly lowered the maintenance and operations budget to $118.86 million & the capital budget to $18.49 million. Gilbert Independent
- ➤ Quartz Hill Elementary won first place at the district Battle of the Books on April 21 at Mesquite Junior High School after seven tiebreaker rounds among four teams. Their win earned them a spot at the regional contest in Mesa on May 6. Gilbert Independent
- ➤ Higley High School Air Force JROTC cadet Connor J. Hyde was honored by the Desert Wells Chapter with the DAR Bronze JROTC Medal for outstanding academics and leadership as he maintained a 4.00 GPA; he is set to attend the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar. Gilbert Sun News
