Good morning, Gilbert.

New Census data shows slow growth across many Arizona cities, with Gilbert growing just 0.1% in the past 12 months.

Despite this, Gilbert has grown 8.2% since 2000 and recently passed Chandler as the fourth largest city — a sign of changing local trends.

Four Girl Scouts from Gilbert earned the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council after completing community service projects that met local needs, focusing on areas such as life skills education, family support, animal welfare and health awareness.

Gilbert Town Council approved a rezoning (May 19) that clears the way for a retail center anchored by Target at Higley and Ocotillo roads despite local resident concerns.

The zoning now permits a facility over 75,000 sqft, with Target expected to occupy about 128,000 sqft.
