- ➤ Gilbert resident Steven Nielsen filed a lawsuit (alleging malicious prosecution) against the state offices of the Auditor General, Attorney General, and Maricopa County Attorney’s office after charges in a criminal case tied to public school funding were dropped. He claims the investigation was a sham designed to force him and co-defendant Gary Aller out of business (a tactic meant to discourage the use of public-private financing), and his suit seeks compensation for the damage to his business.
