Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 29th of May.
Good morning, Gilbert.
🏘️ Community
Agritopia is an 11‐acre organic farm set within a suburban neighborhood in Gilbert where residents can walk farm trails, rent garden plots, and buy fresh produce.
The project was developed as an agrihood to blend sustainable farming with community living—offering guided tours and food donations for local families.
🎓 Education
Seven Gilbert students received $3,000 scholarships from the Desert Financial Foundation on May 13 as part of a $198,000 award to 62 Arizona students.
The awards (for adult learners, community service, and Passion to Help) recognized the students’ volunteer work and commitment to furthering their education.
📰 Real Estate
Heritage Park broke ground in May 2025 at the northern gateway of Gilbert’s Heritage District on a 10-acre site slated for retail, restaurants, luxury residences, and a public town square.
The development will open in phases starting in 2026 and is led by Creation and Crescent Communities — Flagship Restaurant Group has leased space for three popular eateries.
