Good morning, Gilbert.

Gilbert Public Schools honored top staff from all 39 schools at a celebration held last month at the DoubleTree Hotel in Gilbert + the awards recognized key contributions from employees + the event was supported by the Gilbert Education Foundation and corporate sponsors Sun Valley Building and Benson Systems.

On June 10, the Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board unanimously approved the fourth revision to its 2024-25 budget + the change adds an extra $370,000 in capacity that will give the district more flexibility for upcoming school needs.

Councilman Kenny Buckland raised concerns at the budget meeting last week by saying Gilbert has the fewest staff with only 5.88 employees per 1,000 residents—he warned that more hires are needed as the town nears buildout.

The council approved a $2.46 billion budget that includes plans to hire new workers and delay an electric truck purchase until more study is done.
