EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Higley Unified School District's satellite career and technical education programs showed strong enrollment and high certification rates on August 12, as CTE Assistant Director Craig Pearson reported to the board. The programs offer courses in biotechnology, criminal justice, digital photography, engineering, marketing, software development, sports medicine and technical theater, and students can also take classes through the East Valley Institute of Technology. - ➤ Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time as ADOT has scheduled several freeway closures—these include the eastbound Loop 101 ramps in north Phoenix, closed from Aug. 15 until 5 a.m. Aug. 29, and the Loop 202 on-ramp in Gilbert, closed from 10 p.m. Aug. 15 until 10 a.m. Aug. 17—so motorists should use detour routes.
