Good morning, Gilbert.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Hispanic man in a black shirt and blue jeans—last seen trying to cross Salt River near Devil’s Elbow on Sunday morning—and visitors are asked to avoid the area during the search.

Students at Higley High School were given override election flyers to hand out at curriculum night despite state law that bans student campaigning—staffers assigned the task to volunteers, which raised concerns among community members.

The district said employees did not instruct students to support the override and reminded staff of the rules—parents noted the flyers presented a one-sided view.

Gilbert is accepting online applications for two volunteer positions on its redevelopment commission—applications are due by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept.

9 for qualified elector residents. The commission advises the town council on project proposals and monitors redevelopment efforts at monthly meetings.
