EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of East Valley high school seniors have not completed the FAFSA and are missing out on key financial aid opportunities for college and vocational training—data shows only 41.2% of Arizona’s Class of 2025 filled out the form by early August. Officials and schools are supporting improvements to the form and offering help to raise completion rates for future applicants.  The Mesa Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona law requires every dog over three months old to wear a collar or harness with a valid license tag, and public parks and school grounds require dogs to be leashed. Maricopa County and local cities such as Mesa, Gilbert, and Surprise enforce these rules—violations can be reported to local authorities.  The Arizona Republic
  • Downtown Gilbert has new wayfinding signs in the Heritage District as phase one nears completion; 74 signs now help visitors find parking, restrooms, rideshare zones and bike racks. The two 7-foot directory signs placed at BriComp Boulevard and Ash Street use LED lights to share updates on Gilbert’s key historic landmarks — Canal, Water Tower and Railway.  Gilbert Independent

  • An entity tracing to Rj DeLorto & Alvin Yono acquired the Francis & Sons Car Wash property at 615 W. Ray Road on Aug. 8 for $1.15 million from a seller linked to Bhavin Patel.
