EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Scott Anderson and Gilbert Police Youth Community Engagement Officer Emily King met with leaders from public, private, and charter schools to discuss improving campus safety, preventing teen violence, and boosting access to higher education and job opportunities as the new school year approaches — the group will meet quarterly and invites interested school leaders to join their next roundtable in early October. - ➤ Chandler-Gilbert, GateWay and Paradise Valley community colleges have joined the Unlocking Opportunity network by the Aspen Institute to reform programs and help students move toward good jobs or a bachelor's degree. Over the next three years, college leaders will study data to improve dual enrollment and advising strategies (their plans aim to better align programs with local workforce needs) to boost student success.
