- ➤ Gilbert will hold a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the memorial outside Town Hall where Fire and Rescue and Police will honor the lives lost and first responders from Sept. 11, 2001. A tribute in light will follow from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.—local residents are invited to participate in National Day of Service opportunities this September. Gilbert Independent

- ➤ Maricopa County Environmental Services is cracking down on unpermitted food vendors—reports show some vendors have been linked to residents falling ill—and will enforce health permit rules until all vendors comply. Officials say the crackdown will continue as investigations uncover further violations. Maricopa County

- ➤ Arizona health leaders are concerned that rising exemption filings and lower vaccination rates among kindergarteners could put vulnerable students at risk—especially as Florida's policy changes raise the possibility of similar actions in Arizona in the future. AZ Family
