EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On September 16, Higley Unified and eight other districts hired a Phoenix law firm — Osborn Maladon — to help in stalled talks with EVIT over new CTE contracts; however, board member Anna Van Hoek opposed moving toward a lawsuit. EVIT wants to keep more money and gain more control over programs for about 8,000 high school students and 24,000 district students, and discussions continue. Gilbert Sun News
- ➤ During a public comment on September 23rd, a Gilbert mother urged the public schools board to honor her 17-year-old son's do-not-resuscitate order even though state law does not require the district to follow the order, saying her son deserves to have his doctor's wishes respected in a medical emergency. - ➤ San Tan Charter School’s Montessori PreK-12 program reached two milestones—over 400 students are enrolled, making it the largest Montessori school in the Southeast Valley.
