GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maricopa County Parks and Recreation will propose modest fee adjustments to cover rising costs and demand—changes that will be phased in over the next three years. A public meeting is set for December 10 at 301 W. Jefferson in Phoenix for comment—and if approved, the new fee schedule will begin on January 1. Maricopa County
- ➤ Glendale has shortlisted Gilbert town manager Patrick Banger and Glendale assistant city manager Vicki Rios as finalists to lead the city following a nationwide search — the council will interview both candidates in early October and choose a replacement to begin this winter. - ➤ Gilbert Planning Commission reviewed a proposal that would raise the maximum building height in the Heritage Village Center zoning area from 55 feet to 75 feet, with an option to reach 90 feet if developers add benefits — such as underground parking, extra public spaces or sustainability measures. Senior Planner Kristen Devine said the change followed direction from recent Town Council retreats and urban studies highlighted the economic success of compact mixed-use projects.
