EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Higley Unified School District spent about $14 million from its maintenance and operations override in fiscal year 2024–25—34% of which went to teacher pay to raise salaries above the state average. The district is now beginning a phase-down period and expects a 33% funding cut this fiscal year due to the failed renewal in 2024. Gilbert Independent
- ➤ Gilbert Public Schools will host its second annual College and Career Fair at Gilbert High School on Monday, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Families and students may attend four pre-sessions beginning at 5 p.m.—covering the Common App, nontraditional career paths, college funding, and financial aid—designed to help explore post–high school opportunities.
