- ➤ Verde at Cooley Station will host its annual Halloween on The Green event from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 (a free community event) that will feature live music, pumpkin decorating, and themed photo opportunities. - ➤ The Freestone Recreation Center will host its annual Boo Bash on Oct. 24 in its gym, offering costumes, games, arts and crafts, inflatables, a petting zoo, and other fun activities for children and families. Pre-registration will be required for the first 250 participants—admission is $15 per child and children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Gilbert Independent

- ➤ Aura SanTan mixed-use development won Gilbert Town Council approval after expanding its commercial area to address concerns over insufficient nonresidential uses. The project on 14 acres near Val Vista Drive and Pecos Road will include 357 apartments and 35,000 square feet of office and retail space after a vote of 5 to 2 that saw dissent from Vice Mayor Bobbi Buchli and Councilmember Jim Torgeson.
