- ➤ Gilbert Public Schools will join the 2025 Arizona Walk4Hearing event at Mesa Riverview Park on Nov. 1—offering free ice cream, refreshments, a bounce house and children’s activities to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Donations are welcomed and 40 percent of contributions will go to the school team. Gilbert Independent
- ➤ Gilbert Public Schools has started its search for a new superintendent by inviting community feedback—posting a national job opening and launching an online survey for parents, staff and residents. Board President Chad Thompson said the district and consultant McPherson & Jacobson will seek a replacement for retiring Shane McCord at the end of the school year. Gilbert Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Natural Restorations, a Gilbert nonprofit, will hold its sixth annual Save Our Saguaros event on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at Four Peaks in the Tonto National Forest—sponsored by Wells Fargo and the National Forest Foundation—to replant saguaros lost in the 2020 Bush Fire. Volunteers will carefully transport young saguaros to pre-dug spots and water them to help the cacti grow correctly. Gilbert Sun News
