- ➤ Last week, people gathered at the Water Tower Plaza to launch the Light the World Giving Machines by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to raise money for local and global charities. The machines will be at 45 W. Page Avenue until Dec 31 and have already raised $6.7 million in Arizona & helped provide meals, vaccines and food supplies to many in need. Gilbert Sun News

- ➤ The town of Gilbert offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 for Thanksgiving and Friday, Nov. 28 because of a four-day work week — trash and recycling pickups will continue as scheduled.
