EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gilbert Public Schools FFA students and alumni went to the 98th National FFA Convention (in Indianapolis) from Oct. 28th to Nov. 1, where they earned a silver ranking in the Meat Evaluation event and seven students earned the American FFA Degree. The Gilbert High School chapter received a Three-Star National Chapter Award while its Meat Evaluation team competed at Purdue University’s facility in West Lafayette, Indiana (where they learned about meat processing). SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Cactus Yards, Gilbert’s key sports complex, attracted out-of-town visitors who spent over $21 million last fiscal year but surveys showed lower ratings due to summer heat and service issues. Town officials will update the graphics and improve field conditions—hoping to enhance the venue for future tournaments and address feedback. Gilbert Sun News
