- ➤ Students at Williams Field High School collected 14,848 pounds of nonperishable food during their annual Stuff the Bus drive and delivered the items on Nov. 25 to the United Food Bank Volunteer Center in Mesa. The drive, organized by the National Honor Society, exceeded its 12,000 pound goal. Gilbert Independent

- ➤ Anirvin Puttur, a U.S. Air Force Academy cadet, was named a Rhodes Scholar and will begin his fully funded Oxford studies in October; he credits his Gilbert family and BASIS Mesa teachers for fueling his academic drive. Gilbert Independent
