- ➤ On Dec. 9, Gilbert Public Schools officials proposed closing Pioneer Elementary School because long-term enrollment declines and fiscal challenges have left it as the smallest school with two classrooms per grade. The district plans boundary changes for 2026–27. Gilbert Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gilbert Public Works announced a four-month pipeline project starting Dec. 15 along Higley Road from Guadalupe to Ray Roads. The week of Dec. 15 valves will close on Higley Road, affecting households between Baseline and Williams Field Roads and between Power and Val Vista Roads — water will be rerouted.
