Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 7th of April.
Good morning, Gilbert.
💼 Business
Premier Medical Distribution is opening an office at 1031 W.
Melody Ave., Gilbert — it will supply goods, service, and support to caregivers including regional hospitals and private practices. The office will open soon to serve local healthcare needs.
🎓 Education
Gilbert Public Schools approved a $573,362 purchase of weapon detectors, hand-held devices, crowd control barriers and other related security measures, plus a $17,000 annual fee for a cloud-based management system to enhance safety at all high schools.
The rollout will begin at Gilbert Classical Academy and Canyon Valley High School with a security guard at each entrance – and the district aims to complete the installation by the end of the school year.
Sossaman Middle School was named one of the five Schools to Watch by the Arizona Association for Middle Level Education — the program honors middle schools statewide.
The school will travel to Washington, DC from June 26—28 to receive national recognition from the National Middle Grades Forum.
🏛️ Government
The City of Chandler is ready to build a new forensics lab for its police and is waiting for Gilbert to decide on partnering during today's Town Council session.
If the towns work together, they will share costs and adjust plans that have increased due to rising expenses + changing design needs.
